I do just have one wire from the harness. I think it is pink and green. Attached to one pole now. The other pole connects to a brown wire (assuming ground) at the base of the fireway. If I recall correctly that it comes off the main wiring harness.

The oil pressure gauge did work with this set up. I didn't have any issues with the oil pressure warning light flickering or turning on at hot idle.

Great news...I was able to transplant the fitting from the old engine to the newer engine without removing the tin from either engine thank to the specialty socket.
