CA guys will know better than me but as far as I know CARB frowns on O2 sensors not in OEM location, with CEL fix extenders and 90 degree adapters that remove the 02 sensor from the exhaust stream to defeat P0420 codes.

Buyer beware.

CARB only cares about 76 and newer cars.

You are not alone here. I assumed the exact same thing. If the seller really had a buyer blackout, why wouldn't he re-list it on BAT? I think a shill got caught holding the bag and the seller thought they would get more for the car. Sooo many cars that dont sell on BAT end up on P-Car or Cars and Bids. Its a shame because both of those sites used to be really awesome.

As if that’s any real penalty. New computer, new IP address, new userID. Problem solved.

Regardless, I’d still be concerned about engine tune and what that o2 sensor location may be doing with fueling.

That header wouldn't make it either (on a 76).

Texas dropped ALL inspections on anything 25 years or older.

I did a bunch of research on water-cooled Porsche engines into a 914.

They will BARELY fit between the inner suspension ears. It is SO close you cannot use the COP coils and have to modify to remote coils.
It is so close I would worry about engine movement during use.

It also looks like any outer reinforcement or braces on those ears would make this worse.

ok i am confused the shifter is a 5 speed, but the listing and his paper work says
"porsche 6 speed manual transmission from a 1998 Porsche Boxster" but then it does on the front page of the other listing does say 5 speed, not sure why in his paperwork on the front of that folder picture 180 or so says 6 speed,

Porsche didnt have a 6 speed in the boxster until the S model in 2000 correct? SO which is it? 1998 was not a 6 it was a 5 speed..........
my bet is since it is a 1998 donor car and a 2.5L motor its a 5 speed not a 6.

Nothing personal, but it looks like a complicated mess compared to an air cooled six or subi conversion. I know it’s cheaper, but it looks like you would have to drop the motor to change the spark plugs and probably other stuff
If your going water cooled, a subi looks like a better option, but it’s not a Porsche motor and could limit you from attending some Porsche events.
