My rear view mirror (the one mounted on the windshield) is very loose on the ball of the mounting stalk. So loose that it tends to reposition itself as I drive. Is there any way to just slightly tighten the mirror so it's firm and won't move on its own?
The windshield mounting puck and the mirror base/stalk are firmly mounted and don't move. It's only the mirror itself that moves too easily on the pivot ball. |

Hi @BillC , What I believe is the problem with your mirror no longer holding the adjusted position is that the ball & cup (see photo) adjustment has failed the cup is most likely worn out and can no longer hold the adjustment without creeping down while driving . Sounds like you will need a new mirror as I don't see how this part could be fixed or replaced . It could be glued into the desired position so it doesn't creep down , you have nothing to loose .  |

I was dealing with this issue.... mirror would move constantly.
I pulled the mirror off the ball and mine is cracked in a few places. Im cheap..... Took a small piece of electric tape and crumbled it up, stuffed it into the cup. Pushed it back on. Provides just enough resistance to keep in in the position I need it. HAven't touched it in 100 miles. Give it a shot... |
