Took the 914 powered 356 up to Solvang over the weekend. Going up a hill it started pinging......I'm running Super, or what CA calls 91 octane. I'm thinking that the 009 that's in there is junk.
So, I'm looking for suggestions and a 050 dizzy if anyone has one laying around. This motor was Chris C's old motor before he went with the /6 in hos race car. Pulls like a tractor up to 5K then runs out of steam.....more advance than the 009 can give? |

Bite me Brad....how does my cooling system suck? It does the job......it keeps the head temp below 300 F.
I have a bigger bore 2.4 that runs hot and I have an external cooler for that....runs at 190-210F oil temp. I was not willing to spend three times the amount for a FAT cooler shroud and get less cfm across the heads. As a bonus the GM alternator also puts out more amps. Seems to work for me. Chris....the timing seems on, just that the 009 forces me to run a bit more advanced to get more power.....and I never liked the 009s..... |
