I'm replacing the stock footwell speakers and thought the correct size replacement was 4x6. Well, as shown below, 4x6 speakers are a bit too small. I measure the opening to be about 4 5/8 x 7. Can I fit a 5x7 speaker in this space? It seems like I'll need a backer plate like the original.

Unless you need to keep the stock grills, check out our own morphenspectra's 6.5" speaker pods. They're the hot ticket in 914 audio. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) See the Vendors area for details.

i purchased little adaptors (metal brackets at a hardware store) to allow me to use the same size speakers you have fit my speaker boxes (cost $3.50).

Biggest prob. was that I was squishing that fragile tubing that sits behind the boxes, so beware!
