Sure it can make 150 HP... I have made 165 from a 616 based engine..BUT the power is at a useless RPM- So high that you can only use 1/10 of it even on a track!
What it don't have is torque..... Torque is all that really matters... I bet below 4K RPM a 1300cc TI engine will out perform it. I'm building a 190 HP 616 for LN Engineering as we speak with modern components, ideas, EFI, direct fire and some super duper heads from Len and a custom cam.. read about it hereLN 1900cc R&D engine |

Think of a 616 engine as a 36 HP VW with hundred horsepower heads. You can get 150-or even 190 HP, but it's a grenade, waiting to self destruct. The bottom end is beyond weak, compared to the T4. The Cap'n

You think 914 parts are expensive!!!
Building a 150 HP 616 engine will cost a bare minimum of 16K! Freakin main bearings are now over 300$ a set! A ton of 356 owners are buying my TIV engines these days, it drops right in.. |
