I have a 2.5L six. The engine is coming out to fix a problem with 4th gear in the tranny. While it is out, I am trying to think of things to do while it is out. Any suggestions? As far as I know, nothing needs to be done. However, one thing I'd like to do is replace the points with something. Not sure which distributor is in there. Aren't there two possibliities? What do you suggest for upgrading the ignition system? Certain brand? Certain type?

My ignition goodies..........I highly recommend these for carbed 6ers.

Pertronix (or other points replacement)
MSD 6AL
MSD hi vibration coil
Magnecore 8.5 mm wires
NGKs gapped to .045 (prolly BP5es for your motor)

Go to Summit racing for the MSD stuff.

Jeff,
You already have the Magnecore wires as recommended by JP. Sorry to hear about 4th gear.
That tranny, as you know, was gone through by a supposedly skilled Porsche mechanic. Let us know what the problem turns out to be.
