Where is the best source for early style bumpers and what would you expect to pay for a set? Tweaks has new ones in the catalog for big $$$. How much difference is there between the "early" style and those off a '73 or '74? How about "filling" the holes on a '74 set?

CAMP 914 has quite a few and maybe Rhodyguy has a few. Depends on the condition that you want as to what you are going to spend. $75 to $500.
I just installed early front and rear chrome bumpers on my 75 and they cost a total of $1550, rechroming ,triple plated, any holes filled, lic.holes in the front bumper. New top rubbers, from GPR, special deal from last years German Autofest, and factory ordered front chrome foglite grills.
The only real difference that I am aware of on the early bumpers is the 1970 rear bumper has sharp edges on the lic plate area.
Also the 73 and any bumper that has the bumpettes will have extra braces. I try to find the bumpers without bumperettes so I don't have extra holes to have filled.
The pic shows my new rear bumper.

I must have been gone a while... Craig when did you get that fat assed yellow car? Looks really cool!

RD, it would be a lot cheaper to get a nice used set from one of these guys rather than a "new" set which is probably rechromed anyway. REAL new ones are an absolute mint.

Chris H. I checked the car out a long time ago and I kept pics at my desk until I decided that I wanted to buy it, I bought it July 28th. It was located in Eugene Oregon, it had been on ebay and not one bid. So I kept in touch with the owner.

c.h., look for 73 and earlier for rears w/out bumperet holes. if you find some for a reasonable price (just make the best deal you can live with) that have holes in them you can use 3/8" black plastic buttons to fill the holes. most hardware stores have them. other items that make this an exspensive proposition are the tops and the grills for the front. if you find bumpers make sure you get the brackets for the plates, "dog bone" spacers, and bolts.

Are those rear flares on your car the 9" or 11" GT flares...?
I have 9"s on my car (in primer) and they dont look that big...

They were installed by the PO, body shop owner. The wheels inside the rear flares are 10x17. They are the J LO models. gives you the big rear end look.

How much space on the front and back side do you have inside those flares? That would probably answer the ?...

Thanks -Those are a lot biggger than mine...Probably about 2.5"
accross the top.... I may need to reconsider my options... Are those fiberglass or are they a trick metal job?

Flares,valances and rocker panels are all metal. I would be satisfied with the smaller GT flares. You don't have to worry about scrapeing them when you pull in and out of your garage.
