Wow I'm still tired.
what a weekend.
I made a few mistakes and will get to that in a minute, but WOW I had fun!

2 day event at pueblo.
ran some decent times.
They had sprint races on saturday and an enduro on sunday.

Just to make it exciting they did a "lemans" start on saturday. Not a real lemans start, but a safer version.

Each driver had a designated runner, while the driver was fully strapped into their car with the motor turned off.

Cars were gridded right on the track.

When the green flag flew the runners all ran across the track and tagged the drivers hand.

that was the signal that allowed you to start the motor and go. CRAZY... 25 cars all pulling out at the same time.
My group is big bore, so needless to say the shelbys and camaro's pulled away in the 1/4 mile from a standing start.

wheweeeeeeeyyyyyy:

So on Sunday was the enduro. They combined all of the fendered cars into one class and all of the open wheel cars into a 2nd class.

Talk about traffic.
it was like 3 races rolled into one.
what a blast!
61 cars took the checkered flag in the production group that I ran.. The sight was rather amazing for a newbie like me. Here we are trying to get gridded out:

funny guy..
I know a few of those MG's beat me (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

but I did finish... would have done better except for my screw up...

So here it is:
The race is 1 hour 45 minutes of driving plus two required 10 minute pit stops. (2hour 5 minutes total)

You can take the pit stops at any time you desire.
You pull into a timing area and they write the current time plus the 10 minutes onto a card. Then you can go into the pits. My pit was WAaaayyyy across the paddock.
At my first stop, I got my card.. drove to my pit.. added gas.. check the tires... ran to the bathroom... got back into the car, belted up and got ready to drive out and turn my card in.. hmmmm card... hmmm... where did I put that dang card?

yep... I lost my stupid card.
I laid it on my dash and during my drive across the paddock it blew off of the dash without my noticing.

I was frantic.
we walked all through the pits
never found the card (well, found it 4 hours later when we were loading up)

finally I went back to the track out about 5 minutes late.
Told them my sad story, and they told me to go out.
So I lost about 5 minutes of hot track time.
I finished 25th overall, and I think I would have been close to 10th or 12th If I hadn't made such a stupid mistake...

here is my fancy shmancy timing system:

Despite my rookie error... I really had a BLAST!

it was so fun to mix it up with all different types of cars.
With 2 times the normal cars out there the traffic was thick, and you were either passing or being passed on every single corner:

To funny Aaron, LOL Trust me, if I know Brant, (and I do) he had about 3-4 different stopwatches and weighed each on a gram scale and picked the lightest one! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

battled lap after lap with a couple of cars.
surprisingly some of the MG's and the Datsun, could pull me in the straights..... Dang those motors are pretty well developed compaired to my stock motor.

but I could actually out corner most of them:

Here are the 2 wheels that Dad refinished...
