I was wondering if anyone in the Bay Area hada D-Jet tester they might be willing to throw on my car? (I'll drive to you) I'm having problems and I've heard the tester can be very helpful. Is that true? Is it really that helpful?

Have you tried http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/ecu_testers.htm ?

"How much does it cost to rent? The current rates for renting the ECU testers are $20 per day if you are local, or $50 per week if you are located out of the area. If the tester tells you that you need a fuel injection component replaced, we'll be happy to provide you with that part and let you keep the tester an extra day or two to confirm that the system is operational."

When I talked to Wayne recently it sounded like they don't do the rental anymore.

But they do still have the tester and they will let you use it if you are nice and willing to drive to El Segundo.
