I've looked everywhere, but can't seem to find info on 911 motor numbers.I just recived a 84 3.2L Euro Motor SN# 930 101 104 5R. I would like to confirm what it is.
Any help or links would be great.
Thanks guys.

that's *not* an engine serial number; that's just the casting number of the fan shroud.

a 911 engine number is stamped into the rightside case half just to the right of the fan. the engine Type number (e.g. 911/xx) will be in that area too. both can be helpful in identifying what the engine was before it was rebuilt. after a rebuild, only the build sheet from a reputable builder will tell you what's in it now... the engine serial number will start with a P and be stamped between two stars.

the Porsche Spec Book for the year in question (i don't have anything that covers engines that new) will have serial number data. Type Number is a different matter - there are many references for those.

I found that number on the bottom of the case. I'll look where you said.
