warm sunny day in so cal today. will be dreaming of days like this in a couple months. had day off (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/aktion035.gif) . the 6 needs a little excercise, so off I go. get into the twisties of angeles crest. a couple ricers and a few regular cars come up. I pull over and let them pass - just a pleasure drive. get on frwy back to home. going opposite direction of commuters - its wide open. Scud Utility Vehicle flies by @ 90+. I'm not liking this. then I get a ricer on my tail. time for the truth - throttle down - good bye to you. come up on aforementioned fat ass small weenie compensator vehicle. he sees me and ups ante. gave him a dose of 125. he folds. I get this on my sport bike, too, where scud drivers try to get aggressive or give short schrift. what gets into the heads of scud owners? they seem to think they have some kind of awesome ride. good deed done: couple months ago was taking 118E to 405N. If you've never taken it, its a hairpin - 35mph and you're drifting. well before the hairpin, I had slowed to what was still going to be a risky speed. a scud comes up right on my tail. I could only see the grill in my mirror. I'm thinking no way, are you kidding? I drifted all 4 going thru but made it ok. lost sight of scud. I was in my 4 so I could not go too fast. since I lost him on the curve he needs to pass me to save face. problem is, as he passed me I could see he left some paint behind back at the hairpin. bah ha ha! |

Doesn't matter what vehicle o' mine I'm in (including the GoldWing!), I out-drive 99% of the idiots thru the curves. To save face they gotta pass me on the STRAIGHTS (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)
Had a kid in a ricer weaving in-n-out of traffic and really getting nowhere. He'd pass me, I'd pass him, just because of traffic and him over-passing everything in sight and picking the wrong lane. I had my friend w/me so I wasn't doing any racing or aggressive driving. We hit the clover leaf and I ask Brad if it's okay if I take it at a speed I like. He was fine with it cuz he knows I'm a skilled driver. Needless to say, we leave the kid waaaaaaaaaaaay behind...and my teener is on old street tires (notice primer on tire and no front hood). Next thing we know, after we're in the straight, the kid finally shows up and cuts right in front of us. And there's barely a car length 'tween us and the car that was initially in front of us. I honk, Brad flips him off and asks, "What's his problem?", and I evade into the right lane before the kid creates an accident. I get that crap quite a bit. Still not used to it and really don't like it. |

The law is becoming more aggressive with street racing around here. I have read too many articles lately about how they prosecute if the person your racing crashes and hurts somebody. The thought usually kills it for me MOST of the time.
