I've gone and bought Mike's bottom end bits
78mm Crank, rods, fly, PP, fan all balanced at RAT Plus 94mm Nickies with 94mm Type 1 cima pistons. I did it because...besides the fact I'm stupid...I need an engine for my '67 bug. NOW do I use the big 2.6L for the bug and do a 2.2L turbo and keep the SSI's??????? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif) Heat makes it very tempting in the teener. OR do the big T4 in the 914 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif) The T1 Cimas will make for a wide (as in big spacers) engine, maybe as much as 3/4 inch wider. Which ever way I go, I'll be using Mike's crank, etc., in the 914 as it's all balanced by RAT. I'm so confused (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) Damn you Mueller!!!! Wait a sec. Mike SOLD all of his big T4 stuff? Has he decided NOT to build a big engine? I was just on the phone with him half an hour ago, and he's got a dyno appt. in a week...
You're not the only one that's confused... |

Well Mark we don't have to worry about coffee spilled on it. (I hope). Sorry Mike.
Did I read this right? 3/4" wider so about 3/8" shims under the cylinders. WOW. I'd hate to sneak that past the suspension ears. I suppose you remove the rear suspension, then reinstall. Valve adjustments just got more difficult. I think I have the same crank and rods. Pretty sweet. Dave |

I'm guessing at the shims...but this was the combo I was going to do, back before I bought my big nickies, so I'm in the ball park.
I don't think it will be an issue with the ears, but I will install the injectors after it's in. |

When you do, give her the price in US dollars and hope she doesn't catch on. |
