I'm getting ready to mount an LM-1 A/F Meter under my dash
permanently to display and log A/F and RPM. Does anybody have any good ideas on the best way to wire it in so it gets powered after the engine is started. Innovate Motorsports recommends not powering the LM-1 until the starter is finished....or a voltage spike from the starter may (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ar15.gif) the LM-1. |

Sounds like innovate is covering their ass for a design flaw (not enough power supply filtering). Instead of jury-rigging some sort of engine-running switch maybe an external supply voltage filter would be better? Does Innovate have any recommendations for supply filters that can be used with the LM1? You might be able to use something intended for a car audio application...

Seems like that would work out O.K. , guess I just need to find the feed to the little green light on the instrument panel & tag in a relay and that should do it! Thanks ArtechnikA (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer.gif)
Jerry-Riggin' I go! Maybe I'll talk to Innovate tomorrow too! Before I go off (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif) |

Yup. That should work.
One potential pitfall is that if you oil pressure light comes on the LM1 will turn off, potentially damaging the wideband oxygen sensor (they aren't supposed to be in the exhaust stream without power for extended periods). So not only will your engine be dead but your wbo2 sensor will be dead too. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) |

OOps! scratch the 1st one...This one might work using the normally closed
contact on the relay....the oil pressure switch is electrically closed until pressure builds up. Anytime the oil pressure light comes on you shutdown anyway! Attached image(s) |
