THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

I'm playing taps at my school's veteran's day service this morning. I hope and pray that the students realize what has been done for them.

Remember those fallen and those still fighting. I spent my time in the desert this past year and I truly understand the sacrifice of those before me and those after. There are thousands of military members still in Iraq and thousands of more to follow.

Keep them in your prayers and drink a pint in their honor....

Here's just a little quote I found:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
--John Stewart Mill--

My father inlaw recently passed at age 83 retired from US Navy as a Commander.

He served in WWII on the USS South Dakota Battleship (BB-57)seeing action in the Battle of Midway. He witnessed kamikaze attacks on his ship by the Japs(as he called them) and lost friends.

He served under Admiral Nimitz and we have many photos of them together dressed in their full naval regalia.

He was a great person and friend and I really miss him.

Here's to to Rich Wenzlik!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif) I'll always remember you and your contributions towards our freedom!

My grandfather on my dad's side assembled Spitfires (the plane) in North Africa during the war and got malaria.

My grandfather on my mother's side conducted espionage operations in Italy.

In rememberance.

My father was a WWII Vet. He was a CB that help build the burma road. A quick story if I may. My father (Earl) and his best friend named Garold made a deal that if either one would be killed the other would name their first son after them. Well my name is Garold so I think you can figure it out. Twenty years after the end of WWII I came along and mom had no choice what my name was going to be.

So thank you to ALL that have served and are serving now you have my most sincer THANK YOU. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/flag.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif)

If anybody had thoughts that this thread was OT, here is some Porsche content for you.

The Las Vegas PCA Region was invited to be a part of the Veteran's Day Parade.
I was offered the privilege of being one of 20 Porsche's allowed to participate.
