the headshield over the exhaust ,i heard 6 cylinder only ?

All 914 have the heatshield. Perhaps a few of the early ones were bolt on.

I don't know if it is supposed to be removable though. From memory mine seems to have be un-removable.

When the PO replaced my rear trunk panel (which he did a very good job at), he cut out the heat shield and left it... so I guess they are removable (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)
