Hello, 1st post on this site- I am new to the teeener phobia and I am afraid that I have it - I would like to know if there is any good books/reference books that a tenner owner should have and could use to build/rebuild using a lot of stock parts that should be available to the average owner- I hope that someone out there has a list of books that I should get!!!

Get the Haynes manual. That's my personal #1 resource.

The Clymer manual (more recently published by Lash International) can offer a different perspective on some things.

Jake Raby's Type IV engine video is great for engine rebuilds. http://www.aircooledtechnology.com

This forum and the similar one on the Pelican Parts website (see my sig below for the URL) have a real wealth of information.

Pelican has a good number of tech articles that are well worth the read.

There are other resources for specific sub-systems, like the Weber carb manual from Haynes, or Brad Anders D-jet fuel injection website at http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders .

And there are other resources out there.

This is a great place for advice, parts, friends, and ideas. But be warned! Lots of different people do things different ways! It is easy to get overwhelmed with all the advice. So find a few places that sell parts and have knowledgeable experienced people at the helm. My votes are Brad Mayeur at 914 Limited or Eric at PMB Performance are to good ones off the top of my head. (No hate mail…I am sure there are more) I have dealt with both and they have treated me very well. Level heads with practical advice. I am sure I speak for lots of club members when I say stay away from Part Werks and just watch the prices at Automobile Atlanta.
But welcome to the club and good luck.
