Hi everyone,

Murt here. I am a 914-holic. I tried to quit when I sold my last 914 (ironically) on Sept 14, 2002, just before this site started. It was a silver 73 - 1.7...a picture of which is attached (hopefully viewable). Sold to a gentleman in MA who promised to keep it garaged and maintain it. That 914 was the best of three I had owned over the last 25 years.

I've been poking around here on the site for the last few weeks getting homesick. Lots of names I see are familiar from the old "renagade" club days. DD, in particular has always been an inspiration with his wealth of knowledge and willingness to help. I strayed from my 914 obsession a year after buying a boat when the wife suggested I had too many toys and needed to unload one. I've been hanging out at Jeeps Unlimited.com for a few years (my tow vehicle is a '98 5.9 Grand Cherokee) - but its so refreshing to come here and read posts from intelligent writers. I really miss that.

I went through all the owners picture posts looking to see my ex-car, but apparently the new owner is not here. I still have a pair of SS headers in the shed - maybe I can start my next 914 from those. My real dream is a six - something I've wanted since I watched Bill Sherman do a total knockdown/rebuild on a yellow '71sixer here in NJ back in 1979. (He moved to the suburbs of Portland OR shortly after that and I think he still has it - you out there Bill?)

Anyway, It does my heart good to see all the support and products currently available for 914s - not to mention the great people on this board. Please forgive me for being an ex-914 owner. I truly do aspire to own another some day and in the meantime I'll live vicariuosly through your posts. Awesome website!

The best part:

New people post and they dont expect a response for a few days.. then they check their email (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)

I recall a day when we used to welcome all new comers?

Do I remember your name from the old days mailing out "Twin Trunks Tribune"?
