alright, so i got my l-jet system yesterday. So im going to install it. What pumps (for fuel ) do people use. I don't have my D-jet pump, somebody took it or something....
BMW 318s and VW Cabriolets checked out at FLAPS under the same pump, some AC-Delco pump for $200. b |

I got a spare L-Jet pump lying around.
Don't bump your fuel pressure too high -- those rubber/(plastic, omg replace them!) lines can only take up to so many psi (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) Those newer pumps might put out too much pressure. |

the stock regulator will bleed off the excess psi correct?
now the plastic lines were replaced not too long ago, being like two years ago. Plastic is still pliable and everything. b |

I'd be a little concerned about the pressute that Ranger pump is putting out Britt,.both on the engine, and as stated on the fuel lines. Might want to check that out before you buy it. I know $$ may be tight but don't cheap out at this point. Someone here will have what you need, you've been through enough of this by now to know better (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |

The Ranger should be a throttle body setup running under 40psi. He should be ok. I would try and mount it in the stock location with stock wiring.

I relocated the fuel pump to the front position....so I was thinking about just runnign it that way. I already checked out the ford ranger pressure, and its close to 40 so I should be fine. Like I said before, anything above 40 would just be bled off through the fuel pressure regulator.

I'd rather get a new pump, as used pumps haven't given me much luck. I've been through about three or four fuel pumps in two years, all used...except the newest one, but it needed rebuilding or something, it would lose pressure at odd times....
but if you're giving it to me, i'll take it... b |

okay, so where do i mount the resistor pack? I assume it needs a good contact to the case or tin in order to get good grounds, as according to the wiring diagrams i've looked at, it provides the injector grounds (?) for the injectors....

no pics sorry. i think its somewhere close to where an mps mounts, but idk since our d-jet car had its mps moved. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif)
i would guess that it could go pretty much anywhere, so long as the wires work |

If your pressure regulator is functioning, then yes your fuel ring should never see pressure above what the regulator is set at. If you get a pinched return line it's anybodys guess what the max pressure you will see.
The resistor pack was mounted with a sheet metal screw into the battery support. You should be able to mount it pretty much anywhere that the wires will reach. I'm not sure the case needs a solid ground. If it did, I would have expected Porsche to run a dedicated brown wire to it. (You could always do this yourself if you think it is needed) What are you installing it on? a 1.8 or your 2.0, or something else????? |

the 2.0 is sold for much needed money (read no more eating ramen noodles)...i'm putting this on my 1.7....which is going to be wickedly better than my single carb.
im sure i'll love the difference between the fuel delivery systems.... my 2.0 was on the way out, and I never felt the 1.7 fuel injected..... the carb was okay at best, it worked. But like Jake said or someone said, it has more power at part throttle than at WOT..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) b |
