Aired on Wednesday, January 4 at 2:00am ET Perhaps no field has experienced the revolution in velocity more acutely than transportation. We look at five blazingly fast technological marvels that have pushed the speed limits to the very edge, each with its own unique and dramatic history: the world's fastest production car (Sweden's Koenigsegg CCR); the world's fastest train (the Maglev in Shanghai); the world's fastest boat (The Spirit of Australia); the world's fastest roller coaster (the Kingda Ka) and the fastest thing on earth (the Holloman High Speed Test Track), used to test highly sensitive equipment for many branches of the government and commercial clients. |

Old news, and no longer accurate. The new Veyron is faster and much more powerful, and there are others, too. Hey, if it's in ghe GBR, it's been around a while. The Cap'n

er, YEAH! The VEYRON! But that thing has twice as many cylinders.. so if the CCR had 16 cyl it'd give it 1600hp.. more than enough (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

the bugatti is faster, but the show was filmed pre Veyron
but this car is just prettier, IMO besides the show was more about the progression in speed for land vehicles than it was about the CCR. |

Was there any comment about the SCC Ultimate Aero? 1,046 hp and 2,640 lb. It's made right here in Tri-Cities, WA.
Website. Owner/designer spoke at one of our autocross-club meetings. Said the design criteria included 2,600 lb curb weight, and must be able to acomodate an NFL linebacker (they all want a Lambo or Ferarri but can't fit in them). -Ben M. |
