My front end shakes when i drive, it happened after i towed it home from San Jose, Ca. (300 miles or so). Should I take it in to have it done or can I do it myself?

Does it shake when you're braking? In a corner? Or just when its rolling?
Here are some things to check: Check tire pressure. Try 35 lbs on each corner just to start. Put the car up on jackstands and shake all the wheels in and out to check for wheelbearings. There should be a little play on the wheels but not too much. The alignment could be off. Unless you're savvy with string and chalk, you'll have to take it in for that one. Wheels could be out of balance ie. a weight could have fallen off or you could have wheel damage. You'll have to take it in for that also. |

okay, the air is fine and the bearings are good. I used to do my alignment on my VW's, Is it anything like that? I'm thinking it might be due to flat spots on the tires, The shaking happens when moving. I guess I should just buy new tires and see if that works. She (LOLA) could use a new pair of shoes!

Is the shaking constant? Or only at a certain speed?
If it's at a certain speed it could be a belt seperated in one tire. Do you have the same size tires front & back? If so try swapping them front to back to try and eliminated a belt as a possibility. |

Tires
Swap fronts to back see if that changes the shake. Belt seperation can be seen if you roll the tire and look at the tread. It will hump or have a bald spot in one spot. |

no seperation seen on any tires. could it be flat spots due to it being stored for a couple of years without moving and the tires being flat? My pops (dad) let it go while in storage.

Oh, why a gutton for punishment? is there something i should know about the hummer or rover? |
