There are a number of opportunites to get track time here in Arizona. One of the new/re-organized groups is ASRA, now known as Club Racing Arizona.

I attended their DE/track day on Sunday. Some of the best money ($135) I ever spent. The event was well organized and really well run. PIR is an good technical track and great for learning. There were some other great cars running like a fleet of Vipers getting ready for some big race in Texas in a couple weeks and the local Porsche dealer was doing a DE for new Porsche owners. Kinda funny sick to watch a guy blow up the motor in a new 997 Cabriolet, but I am sure it is under warranty since it was a dealer sponsored run group.

Only three 914s Why? I was there, Wild6 and Bob Beck. So Arizona guys, get your cars out for the events and have some fun. Looking at the schedules for PCA, ASRA, NAPA, SCCA and Pro Racing, you can do at least two events a month all year long.

Firebird for ASRA in two weeks, PCA autocross same weekend. PCA DE February 5 and another March 4/5. Get those queens out of the garages, off their jackstands and on to tracks where they belong. Have some good clean safe fun.

Besides, it would be nice to have someone to run with as the Bemers, Subbys and other Ricers all had me by 150-200 hp +, but it was sure fun to drop them in the curves.

I was supposed to be there. Real Life ™ got in the way.

I did get an optima battery installed in the yellow car so I don't have to depend on the old lawn tractor battery to run start it up.

Good to see you had fun. Were you able to take Nascar 3/4 full throttle as well as turn 1?

I have no running P-cars right now. My S2 ate the timing belt and needs alot of work as a result. I sold my 914 runner. My other 914 is a project. However, the intent of the car is AX and DE so "hopefully" next year?!?!?!?!

I know.... Why don't you let me borrow that 968 for a few laps? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

When's the next event?

I'm working out here in Phoenix for the next few months and may be stuck here some weekends... like this one (SCCA race at PIR, so I'm going to spectate). I could run a rental car.

ASRA DE at Firebird West on the 21st/22nd

PCA Autocross on the 21st at Phoenix Muni

PCA DE on February 5 at Firebird West

PCA DE/Club Race at Phoenix Intnl Raceway March 4/5

Five track opportunities in the next seven weeks, not too shabby. And 70 degree weather too. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Now you know why we live in Arizona.

PCA events are open to all PCA members, and you run what you brung. So rent a Mustang GT and have a blast. ASRA is new and honoring all memberships the first year: PCA, SCCA, NAPA, Cub Scouts, Knitting Circle, Library Card, or what ever. Bring your 05 Helmet.

Cool, good to know.....

I should grab a company car, like a GT500 prototype... or our Mustang Cobra "training vehicle"... or maybe the GT. Somehow I don't think I'd get away with that.

PCA Autocross on the 21st at Phoenix Muni

Greg,
What is the surface like at Phoenix Muni?
I'm hoping it is as opposite as possible to the site used for the last PHX Flight AX! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

I'm instructing at the SAR-PCA event in Tucson on the 22nd and was considering checking out the AX up there on the 21st.

Muni is a real parking lot. The surface is a little greasy/dusty in the morning, but by the afternoon, it's clean around the line.

The Flight AX was unfortunant, but the result of a bind that the club was in.

Phoenix Muni is a good spot. Nothing at all like what we had for Flight. Bring your sticky tires, they will work great here!

Thanks Greg and Bryan,
Sounds encouraging, though I'll have to see how things go between now and then as I just found out today that I may have to work next Saturday. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif)
