I have a non-Porsche project that is screaming for powdercoating. Does anyone have a recomendation for Bay Area powdercoating?

Since I've never had this done before I wonder how much "prep" I have to or should do before I give them the parts. Will they sandblast first? etc...

Most places I've seen offer blasting services.

The one place I've dealt with in the Bay Area did a good job, but took forever (MONTHS!) to finally do the job. Never answered the phone, never returned messages, was rarely even in the shop. His employees didn't know anything about orders in the shop. I'll not visit him again, though I'm happy with what was finally done.

The silly thing was he was complaining about how people left stuff in his shop forever...

This was Accurate Power Coating, in San Carlos.

I have had good and bad experiences with Warren at Accurate. He does amazing work and stands behind the quality. I had him redo some parts because I wasn't happen with it the first time. He also doesn't charge and arm and a leg. He does take his time and has issues with returning phone calls. I just went down there and found him. Here is some of the work he did for me:

He also does great oxide blasting...

Most places I've seen offer blasting services.

I was under the impression that it's not an additional service, it's included with the powder coating. Even if you bring them sandblasted parts they will do them again to make sure they are stripped to their satisfaction. It's like a paint shop not wanting to spray over someone else's prep work. How could they guarantee it?

Thanks guys. I expected there to be good and bad reviews for any one shop. I'll call them all and see who really wants the job.

Thanks again.

Man o man you have no idea how close I've come to buying my own powder coating rig. The project I'm doing now though has a part that just won't fit in a small oven. I don't think a propane space heater would cut it either.

Hey Britain - what do you put on the oxide blasted transmission to keep it looking the same way as in your picture?
