For a non-car magazine, that's a lot of detail. Their take on it is whether a 914 is a good investment or not and there's not a word about the value of the driving experience.

Reading that, It appeared to me the author is a Porsche guy. He seemed to have a grasp on the reciepe to a fast and funn 914. He seemed to clearly get the fact that Porsche was short sited when it can to these cars. I sent him a nice invite to the BBS. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/aktion035.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) It's seems he also has an appreciation for 914 Hot Rods. He deserves a spin in the Alien. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/assimilate.gif)

And he did figure out how we get every dime we ever invested in these cars when we sell them (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

Hmm, not too impressed. I wish they had a breakdown on how he spent his $100k. Maybe they included labor? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

It seems to me he spent too much money on things like "a roll cage covered in red leather" to really make his money back. Probably went too exotic, and overshot the market.

A lot better than this snippet from the L.A. Times , 1997 onset of the 986 .
Paul Dean, editor said that the 914 buyers are all still in therapy. I did call him a offer him a ride , and he declined. His loss (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

Though his 914 isn't going to appreciate for decades, he should have had enough fun driving it by then to consider his money well spent.

The author of the article, Jim Schrager, is a 356 Registry member and writes a column "Marketwatch" for the club magazine. He's a big 356 perfectionist who can rip a 356 or any car apart by the door and hood gaps. Knowing him from his articles, 914's are not on his list for investments. I'm not sure giving him a ride in the most "perfect" 914 will ever convince him that they offer more fun for the buck than his barn queens, either.

Guys, this isn't a new article. It's a re-hash of a 2004 Sports Car Market article:

Yes. Since that's the only line of the article that mentions the enjoyment of driving the cars while all the rest of it deals with technical matters and their cost. I'd say he didn't give enough attention to the adrenaline.
