now that I have the top end off, I have some questions,

without replacing them, what is the best way to clean the pis. rings of all the gunk ?

should I lightly hone the cyl's or will that require new rings?

Basicly what are the some good ways to freshen it up and be 914sh.

without replacing them, what is the best way to clean the pis. rings of all the gunk ?If you are not removing the cylinders from the pistons, use a wire brush on a drill. Put piston at TDC and whirr away

should I lightly hone the cyl's or will that require new rings?Buy new rings and use a "bottle brush" home (I call it a dingle ball hone)..you need to "break" the glaze and provide the crosshatch to seat new rings.

Basicly what are the some good ways to freshen it up and be 914sh.Have the valves/valve seats reground - 3 angle.
