I know very little about the type 4 engine, but members of my club keep referring to these 'magic' cilinder heads

They have various stages of heads for 2.4 up to 2.9 type 4 engines and a 2.0 head that is supposed to make 160 reliable hp
For the 2.9 they claim a reliable 220 hp

Any of you care to comment?

Here's the link: Remmele Motorsports

cheers,

Jeroen

Those have Type I exhaust ports...they are 90° off for use in our cars....I'm sure one can get them to work if need be.

I wonder if the type I head would be better to turbo charge since there are kits for VWs? If you go to the price list section there is a picture of a type 4 head with prices in DIM? They look nice and clean in design.

the compression is probably too high for turbo-charging.
a stock vw-bus 2.0 would be better, less compression than the 914 2.0 ...

the type I heads look cnc machined , but that lower stud hole on the sealing ring looks quite dangerous. ( 4 exhaust stud holes ? whats up with that.)

the type IV heads on the price list page look like a casting. can anybody translate the specs.

Go to the Type4forum, Jake's BBS at Germanlook forum and look them up. Also LN Engineering or Aircooled.net is the US distrubuter I think. They are THE hot T-4 head.

translated with altavista's babelfish ...

http://babelfish.altavista.com/

not perfect but should do the trick.

copy and paste
http://www.geocities.com/Karlfreds/katalog5.htm
into the "Translate a Web Page" input line,
choose "German to english" and hit translate. voila!

along with the performance heads that have the t1 exhaust ports...I believe they do make a replacement t4 head with standard exhaust ports...

I think I have read about a couple people using them to build their hipo motors with...

well if that wasn't vague enough...

I beleive the T4 head is the AMC, made in Spain, replacement head that has been reworked.

The AMC heads are suppost to be a good casting but the seats, valves and springs are total crap.

I think Raby uses the AMC that he (or gets) reworks, that and the 2L 914 head.

Here's a little better link to their stuff. And no translation needed. It's funny cause I was just reading over this page yesterday, and was really curious about those heads too. To bad Jake is going to be gone, He's probably the only person who's dyno'd them.
They have a 3 liter type 4 that puts out 280 hp. And for only 22.4k Euros (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif)
