I have been a member of this page for 2 years. The main and only reason is because is my dad in 1970 bought a 914 with his army money in 1971. He bought a 1970 914-4. He restored the car and today it has won consecutive auto contest. It won this years 50th anniversary porsche parade in pocano as the nicest 914 on the US. However he would be the last person to tell you all about this. Because of him we now own 3 914's. He has a perfect 70' 914 and a beautiful 73' 2.- litler. My dad is to modest to post on this webpage but because of him I am the man I am today. I am only 25 and he has helped me build his and my dream car, A 914-6 flared with a 2.7S motor that we run at watkins glen. When my day was younger he had a choice to be like his freinds and run scca cars or have kids, he choose to have kids. because of this he has always helped his friends in thier success. He is a great guy and I just wanted to say I love you dad and thank you for making me obsessed with porsches and especially 914's. The underdog always wins in the long run. He is the best. Sorry to sound cheesy but he is my best freund and i just love working in the garage with him.

C'mon dad, no modesty allowed here. Please post, if for no other reason than to acknowledge your son's wonderful intro & rave about you.

You suck! Now where's the Kleenex? Stupid allergies...

Good job. I didn't realize how great my dad was until I hit 35. You're ten years ahead of me.

I hear ya guys! I realized how much my dad did for me at 15, he helped me with homework, figureing things out, explained things to me, and taught me everything I know about cars, computers, and numerous other things.

I love my dad to!

Congrats Steve on a fine Father! Good job Dad (your dad)

I am 69, and lost my dad 13 years ago, there isn't a daythat goes by that I don't miss him.

Enjoy him. It's one of the really special things in life. You're a lucky guy cause you figured all this out at a young age.

ditto that for my dad! At 80, he just finished a three year ground up restoration on a 57 TR3 that he hauled out of a barn about 30 years ago. It sat in his garage while he worked to support the rest of us. In his retirement (he waited until around 70) he finally started to tinker with it. The last three years he really focused (tore it down himself, welded up all the rusted panels, redid the interior..etc.). Now, it looks like it just rolled off the factory floor!

Very cool acknowledgement of your Dad !!!! I lost my dad when I was 22...I'm 49 now and miss him to this day...he raised 5 of us and also took a lot of personal sacrifices but was able to rally with his buddy in his MG...he was the one who got me interested in nuts and bolts now I have my 15 year old starting to to follow the trend...your Dad is going to love this thread..that's some very cool things you wrote......Binghamton N.Y. eh ?....I've been there.

Well Steve, how about posting some picutes of that '70. the 2.0L and the six for use to drool over.

Nice words about/for your dad. Encourage him to post here too. We are one big 914 family. Now and again we have our little spats, but at the end of the day these special cars draw us together and keep us (in)sane.

Scott...my dad is sending me some recent pics of his TR3...stay tuned!

As another sentimental point. My dad first got me into becoming a motor head in my 8th grade when we pulled a 1963 Cushman Silver Eagle out of a neighbors (farmer) outbuilding. We ripped it apart together and put it all back together. Sure did beat the pants off all my friends honda 50's and 70's minibikes!

I don't have a dad, never had one in any capacity. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)

Steve, it cuts both ways. Your posting this makes your Dad know his work wasn't wasted. Don't know you, so I'll have to thank and brag about my kids.

My son just made Captain with Flexjet, so he now gets his own Lear 60. My daughter has been working on a condo conversion project that opened for sale on Thursday. She sold 36 of the 40 available for almost $50,000,000.

Maybe now they can afford to put me in a really good home (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

PS. Olav, my Dad wan't around much when I was growing up. Don't make the same mistake with your kids or you'll miss all the fun.
