So here is my next adventure in winter AXing
Last event I could not get ANY heat in the tires. Obviously I was not alone because the local hot shoe shows up with these babies. Put them on the tires inbetween runs which can last about 10-20 minutes. Comparing tire temps after his runs and mine, he had a good 30 degrees on me. Hoosiers don't hardly stick till they get about 120. Wonder how this will work leaving the engine running and blowing hot air on them. So who thinks I'm nuts.... Attached image(s) |

Hey Joe,
they may work a little better if the outside wasn't reflective...maybe paint the outside flat black to soak up any sun that is available instead of reflecting it away. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) |

Electric tire heaters heat tires differently than track time does, so 120* might not really feel like 120* if that makes sense...

Not to reflect heat but retain what you got between runs. This is the stuff that is sold at Lowes for insulating sumpin IDONNO. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)
All the heat radiating from the brakes and blowing off the engine is retained and transmitted to the tire. Yea I know I have a probe tire pyrometer. and I will keep good track of the tire temps. Every little bit helps. Oh electric tire warmers are illegal in SCCA Solo II. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/slap.gif) |
