Went to Laguna Seca Friday....had a blast as usual. One of the pro drivers had a Cayman S with cage and track tires...beautiful car! He got by me only when I let two radicals by but then I tried to stay with him. He got away after 3 laps...he won. He had me on the straights. So.....maybe its time for a 3.6??? (Sorry no pics...wife took the digital camera) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)

We're in deep shit, Rob. I just wrote to R&T trying to convince them to do a comparo using the 914 against modern sports cars. I said your car was a match for a Boxster S, mine could whip the Miata or Solstice, and they were more fun to drive.

Hope you can put your money where my mouth is. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

Howard.... RELAX ...I've haven't had any problems with Boxter S's so far....this was the new "CAYMAN S" with Hoosiers. And I think the driver was a pro(ie.. better than me). (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/aktion035.gif)

In any event. Were talking 30 years of development people. A track prep'd car driven by a pro! And a close race! I don't care if he can pass you during a lucky moment. You still win in my book! After watching Rob on the track, IMHO if he hadn't wasted all that time in med school, he coulda been a contender. And that car even made me look pretty good. I hope one of the car magazines takes me up on the idea of a challenge. Couldn't hurt our values...

My 12 year old says sell and buy

Went and looked at one in Nashville on Friday, I sat in it, started the engine, and damn near looked at the salesman and said "I take it". Good thing my wife was there and coughed at the right time and saved me.

Does anyone have the spect's on the Cayman S? I'm guessing near 300hp, 2800 lbs, traction control, and 36 yrs of Porsche technology. Price? I'm still adjusting to the looks of the car...I'm sure it will grow on me. But...I still love my SIX! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

295 hp 3.4 liters...cost starts about $57, but the one's I've seen have been mid 60's to 70k. Very comfy inside, room for a helmet, too! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Hey Robert,
What was your best lap time at Laguna, and what was the best lap time of the Cayman?
