My transmission grinds going to first. Upon inspection, my 1st gear syncro is definitely shot, but the slider and dogteeth don't look too bad. The points are barely rounded, and there is some wear from the syncro contact. How much rounding is acceptable? (.010 radius?,.020 radius?,.030radius). I will definitely clean up the slots with a file to remove the mushrooming. This will help the slider engage. The slider costs over 400 bills, so if I could re-use it it would be great.

If I squint and imagine real good, they seem to not be totally shot. I would do the clean up you are suggesting and re-use them. But I'm a CSOB. |
