This was my first 914 (free to me, had a blown 1.8)

Good pics. I assume you posted all you had, but do you have one of a section through the cockpit/engine compartment firewall? Is that double wall?

Mike,

No pictures of the area you are talking about.........yes, it is built up from multiple pieces of sheetmetal.

Behind the backpad on near the floor, you can see where it attaches to the main firewall.

Some cars will have rust in between this area and you don't know it until it gets really bad.

Actually I think he only cut this up to see how to install

Very educational, but I sure hope the donor wasn't as rust free as it looks. All I saw was rust on the battery tray. It would sure be sad to waste a tub that has so little wrong with it.
