I have no idea what Loctite or adhisive Brad used to put in these ARP head studs on this /4 motor, but they are giving me fits (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)
Why am I removing them? I sold my Nickies to Mark Henry and the new studs are part of the deal.......I'll have to see if Charles will sell me or Mark the studs and I'll adjust the price accordingly...of course not sure if I can use these studs with iron cylinders or not????? |

As i understaand it, Locktite needs to get upwards of 400 deg to melt....no small chore when dealing with an aluminum lump.
Ox-act to the inner wall of the spigot for a good deal of time. I use one of the snap on stud pullers......and a big freakin' 1-1/8 (IIRC)box wrench....or put in the oven at 450 & when the little red thingy pops up, it's ready. |

I busted one of those trying to get it out. It hung up about 3/4 of the way in and wouldn't go either way. I tried welding on nuts and it just kept on breaking. I finally ended up drilling it out and peeling the threads out. The case was fine. Those suckers are really stuck. Charles sold me one and a couple of new nuts and everthing worked out.
Good Luck Dave |

Mike, I'll sell you another set at cost to get you out of your predicament. There's no need to go through that amount of work to peel them out. As far as using them with cast iron cylinders, Brad has been using them for a while now and said they worked very well for him, although I am pretty sure he used a different torque spec than what we run with the Nickies.
