problem: no spark @ coil
'74 1.8 original FI been sittin' for a year...ran excellent 'fore support console went...that's fixed New parts: Optima battery, new starter, even new coil...also the pertronix ignitor was burned out...jus' did a plug 'n' play replace my understanding it should be between the coil 'n' the starter also interesting thing happened...checked relays @ relay board two were bad.....replaced with the two from headlights...so I had three good 1's on relay board...today did the test again (using the headlight trick)...now all are bad????? Also starting at firewall one relay switch, then the empty socket for rear defroster, then the other two relays...one is for the fuel pump...others???....'n' which is what???? any help appreciated won't be able to log on 'til tomorrow THANKS!!!!! |

Also forgot to add...it has a Bosch relay kit on the starter as well

Do you have power at the coil?
If not, do you have power at the relay board? If not, do you have power at the underseat logic circuit (under the passenger seat) If not, do you have power at the ignition switch? |

A 1.8L with L-Jet does not use ANY of the relays on the relay board. It uses the double relay below the battery to run the fuel pump.
Check for power at the positive side of the coil, and check the point gap. Then check to see if you have spark at the coil wire. You could have a burned rotor grounding the spark before it gets to the plugs. |
