This is my first post where I thought I might actually have something to add to the discussion. Finally!

Be patient and take your time with this (which is something inherent to owning a 914 so I think you're well prepared).

Center yourself and make contact with your dog-like self. You'll know you're there when you prefer to sniff butts and pee on things rather than shake hands when you meet new people (or dogs).

Understand that you look like the Jolly Green Giant to your new family member and besides being the most important being in this creatures life now that he has been torn from his mother and litter mates, YOU are incredibly HUGE and scary (and are hardly furry at all. Somehow this little guy has to trust you (rather than being absolutely, with out a doubt, certainly, absolutely, completely friggin' frightened by this naked thing with thumbs and small teeth in this new place.

Once you have his trust and you've got good contact with that place in all of us humans where all the emotions worth having come from.....get centered again and listen for his voice. At first it may be tiny and distant but with time it will become more distinct and certain and he will tell you his name. He will tell you his name. It will come to you as a certainty and he will tell you his name. Hope this helps.

What the....?!?!

The dog will trust you as soon as he figures out that you're the one feeding him from now on.

And dogs don't speak. Even quietly. Some of the people around here are so flippin crazy sometimes.

Haha. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Bogey sounds good.

He's a cutie. Will you bring him to breakfast next week? I'll wear a big coat and sneak him into IHOP. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
