I am new to this forum but I have had a 914 in storage for 10 years or so. I have finally decided I need to take it out and restore it but I have discovered that there is very little sheet metal out there. Right now I am looning for battery rust patches and Automobile Atlanta and Pelicn Parts seem to both list the parts as unavailable. Does anybody else know where I can find new sheet metal

thanks
john

E-mailed Restoration Design two weeks ago yesterday, got a call back from them the next day, received the parts on Wednesday of this week.

Harvey, after you e-mailed them, when did you send them payment and what type, check, cashier check, cc, paypal?

Also, what parts did you order/receive?

Ooooops. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/chair.gif) I actually used the online order forms from their website. credit card order, callback was on shipping charges.
Ordered the right upper wheelhouse, hell-hole tray, and the jacking donut triangle for the passenger side rear of the floorpan. The PO replaced the battery tray, but didn't do anything about the perforations in the upper wheelhouse $19 shipping from MI to PA.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) Restoration Design is very reliable.

They stamp the parts! The owner works in the shop and is hard to catch on the phone during the day. Best after 5pm. E-mail or leave a message.

As I understand it, he used to resell through PP and MidAmerica and others, but with the discounts he had to give them and the fact that they wanted him to maintain the inventory and drop ship for them, he has backed away from them. Inventory is a liability, and I, as a small business man do not blame him.

His parts for both 914 and 911 are just fine, are well made and fit!!
