I'm trying to find a replacement for this part, whatever it is, but I can't tell from diagrams what exactly goes here. The body seal diagrams on Pelican don't seem to show this. (And yeah, I looked at the passenger side. It's in the same condition). Is this important for sealing purposes?

The factory calls it a "guide piece" (#9) on the 72 and older cars and a "Terminal Piece" (#20) on the 73 and later cars. It trims out the end of the window channel, and on the older cars helps guide the window.

Part # 914 542 11 10 for the early cars.

Part # 914 542 173 10 on the late cars.

I just got 2 NEW original window guides (L & R) for the early model ('70-'72). I only had to replace the left side. So I have a set to sell if anyone needs them (new Right and very good used Left). PM me if interested.
