Last year I finished the season on some two year old Victoracers that had lost their "sticky" sometime last summer, so I'm REALLY looking forward to getting these new tires out on an AX course.

Last year I noticed some of the miata guys running the 710s where wetting their tires with spray bottles between runs.

BS?... or do these tires really benefit from this?

Your verdict please.


I ran 26# front & 28# rear with my Victoracers last year. Do the 710s like higher or lower tire pressures?

Oh... also... are you running a bit of toe in or toe out?

Water. I seen a lot of guys doing this also last year. I have 710s I finished my season with. They got hot but I never understood why you would need to "cool" them down between runs? Maybe my region is different, but you usually waited about 10 - 15 min between runs depending on the amount of cars running. Also we only ran on blacktop, maybe cement is different for tire temps?

I tried the water thing and didn't notice any difference one way or another. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)

Exactly!! Let the air out after every run to keep them there.

Yes, it's water. For cooling.

I don't do it. There's plenty of time between runs, so they won't overheat.

They "hook up" immediately, unlike the Hoosiers which need a run to get hot.

You will like them. they seem to last well, too.

Water is not BS

Depending on circumstances two driver car and top driver can push the Kumhos 710's to some pretty high temps. The driver od a C-stock Miata monitors temps with pyrometer. His goal is 130 150 degrees higher than that and they fall off grip. He definately is always fast. There was a Street Mod Mustang with huge 710's single driver car that barely got his tires to 120 degrees He was also several seconds back.

Yes it is water. Same event(single driver) my near new Hoosiers reached 130 degrees and I felt like superman dodging cones. But that was all the temp I could muster. 29 PSI all around for the Hoosiers.
So far my car does not chew up tires like crazy. I am up neck and neck with the established regional hot shoes. Don't know if it is a smoother driving style or the car is so lite sub 1900 pounds that I am not pushing the tire limit. I know driver faster (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif)
