it sure does ... that's why the haynes manual has a whole section devoted to just the wiring ...

might want to brush up on your "manual" reading ...

Can you pop start it? Maybe the problem lies deeper than the starter....

I just rebuilt my solenoid. The starter won't turn until the solenoid kicks out. Good luck!

I havent tried to pop start yet,Both starters work fine.I just will need a really long screw driver if I plan on trying to start the car from my seat. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif) I guess I should ask the best source of an ignition switch at this point and try that.Who has good ignition switches?

I just will need a really long screw driver if I plan on trying to start the car from my seat.

The screwdriver trick isn't for starting, it's just a quick test.

Car in neutral, ebrake on / tires blocked. See photo below. Rest the shank of the screwdriver right where the red arrow tip is, slide it forward, a quick stab against the tab at the green arrow and pull it back away. You'll probably flinch as it starts to crank, but don't fear it.

If it tries to crank, you will have narrowed the problem down to the ignition switch (most likely) or a bad connection along that circuit (sometimes at seatbelt relay junk under passenger seat of later model cars). I harp on this all the time because it only takes an instant to rule out a whole lotta stuff. A crude but effective test.

If you do this, post the results and it will be pretty quick to narrow it down.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) Good deal. Sorry I missed that. Try Pelican for a switch.

When this happened to me I wired up a push button starter to get by.

If you pull the switch you should be able to see the crack in the plastic.

I'd like to 3rd (or 4th) the ignition switch.

It happened to me... been there, done that. It was "loose". Sometimes it worked... sometimes not.

And sometimes I'd be driving down the road and my car would just shut off...... that was fun.

It all revolved around the $12 ignition switch.

I bought mine from Tweeks... which is now Mid-America.... they had it to me in a couple days.. never had another problem with it.
