This weekend was my 1st opportunity to drive the newly expanded 3.1 mile
18 turn road course at Spring Mountain Motorsports in Pahrump. IT IS GREAT!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/boldblue.gif) I can't wait to go back again. The event was a PCA / SCCA Drivers Ed. There were a lot of nice and unexpected cars. A Radical sets up to pass the 1954 Ford. Attached image(s) |

What a cool picture - and both blue. My friend ran the open track challenge last year and really like this track.

I absolutely loved the technical aspects of this track when it was in its smaller configuration. I realize that the bigger cars really wanted to get some more speed, so the new configuration acommodates that.
I hope the character of the track hasn't been lost, though I'll probably love it now that I have a much faster car (I used to drive a stock 1.7 and the smaller track was perfect for the car.) I saw an in-car video of the new track and it certainly was faster across the back. |

Naturally there were Porsche's. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_flagge6.gif)
I counted 8 GT3's including this factory race car. BTW - there were also 8 Lotus Elise. Attached image(s) |

There was even a new Cayman out there doing laps.
*Some guy had just bought this car for his wife. She only drove in the morning sessions on Sat. She was painfully slow. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) Attached image(s) |

Most fun I ever had with clothes on? Streets of Willow against a Hooters NASCAR Ford in my 2.0. Damn, that thing is big and loud. I need more HP or driving lessons.

The new addition to Spring Mountain Motorsports has two very fast sections (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif) . There is also a big dip (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) a tight hair-pin and a fun rhythm run that starts with a tricky decreasing radius turn. The old track was very good. The expanded version is even better. I am very impressed. The 2 hardest braking areas are in the new section. Even so, I think the new layout is easier overall on your brakes. Maybe because they have more time to cool down between some corners. |
