I saw that episode a few months ago on tv....i was drooling when i saw that car and what it could do. Thats just plain nuts! 300hp in a car that weights 1000 lbs, 0-60 in 2.9 sec. I like that they state, "if you can shift fast enough" I'm saving my pennies for one. Or maybe build my own. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool_shades.gif)

It probably could be, just difficult. For one you'd probably have to wear a helmet since there is not windshield. I thought i read somewhere that there were quite a few of the older ones that are all licenced for street use here in the states.

They look really cool in person.

My friend is a full time driving instructor at Spring Mountain.
He said it was scary and felt unsafe.
After doing a few hot laps he does not want to drive it again.

The tranny was broken so I did not get to see it in action.

They're supposed to be legal in California, so they're very likely legal in Nevada. The guy that's building them in Oregon is carefully using EPA certified engines like the GM Ecotec. The crash test rules you can escape by being a small volume manufacturer, or by selling them in "kit" form (i.e., you buy the car, you buy the engine, you pay for them to put them together, but it's still a "kit").

That wussy driving instructor probably doesn't like motorcycles, either.

Someone should produce a simple flyscreen for it. Googles should be sufficient, not a full helmet.

I'd want a helmet... on the road anyway... I think a small wind screen is really needed... somplace to put the inspection sticker... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

But then you miss out on the "bees in the epiglottis!!" (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

I want one. I would drive it year-round in the PNW without complaining about conditions. I would drive it in the rain on the freeway with no face mask and rejoice in the pain!

This thing rocks.

And the "boot" has just enough room for my laptop and a sandwich.... ultimate commuter!!

i know it sounds odd, but the Atom would be a much more "practical" car than the Radical and something you'd be more apt to see on the street...
