What is the weight of the original fabric for seats in a 914?

What have others used?

The OEM plaids seem to be gone so I was thinking of ordering “Barclay Dress” Tartan or the “MacLeod of Lewis” for my 914. A heavy wool (16oz) is expensive. Lighter weights are more reasonable (duh). I am thinking a lighter weight wool with a backing is what the factory used.

Peter Wilson at “The Scottish Weaver” has been very helpful and has not gotten any money out of me yet.

So if you have an interest in tartan wool seats I suggest The Scottish Weaver

If there was a lot of interest we might arrange a group buy and possibly might be able to get a custom weave done. 914s don’t use much fabric and it would have to be the same tartan and weave, so I am not hopeful.

For the record the my relationship with “The Scottish Weaver” is describe above in full.
