If it's just a weekend car- go for it. These old American car column shifters, will remind you of the sloppy tail shifter in your 914…you’ll be right at home with it.
Many years ago, I had a ’68 Chevy van (van craze days) that before I converted it with a built small block and turbo 400; it had a goofy four speed on the tree shifter- the shifter worked all of the forward speeds with shift rods and reverse was via a cable. Damn thing would always bind – jam and get me stuck at a stoplight- unable to get the truck in gear…I had to always hop out and get under the car. DH |

Learned to drive on our old V8 Ford Econoline w/ a 3. It was cool. It REALLY freaks out the passenger when you shift going down the highway. They would ask what you're doing and I simply point to the third pedal. That and the hi/lo beam sw on the floorboard I'll remember. (well, at least things I can mention publicly;)

I learned to drive stick in old Dodge Pick up with a .3 - When we were 14-15 A friend of mine got one in a county service truck auction for like $500, it was that faded orange with a bright shinny spot on the door where they removed the county seal sticker before selling it.. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) he beat the hell outa that truck, a little later he painted it black with cans of Crylon and mounted some deer antlers to the front grill (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Oh, those were the days....
Anyway seemed easy to drive, just an H in a different place thats all. |
