Last week I got it running, today I got it registered and insured.

And I finally got to drive it!!

what a blast!! I drive a canyon road to get to work. the corners that I have to slow to 50 in my truck where taken at 60 in the teener and it wanted more.

Two things I noticed, the front end had a shake at about 60, (tire balance ??)

and the motor rpm at idle after the drive was up from around 1000 to about 1600. That may have to do with things loosnig up. it got new pis. rings during the rebuild.

All things considred it ran well for it's maiden voyage.

I can see why everyone loves these little cars...

I'm thinking Vacuum leaks for the fast idle, but I don't know anything. Way to go. Pritty ballsy to take it through canyons or your very first drive (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif)

I know, I couldnt wait though, I have been looking at that thing on jack stands for 6 months, the last time it was registered was "97" . It was screeming, drive me, drive me,. I didn't want to hurt it's feeling by leaving it in the garage... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

front wheel bearing are new but they mey have taken a set I will check them.

The motor didn't act like it had a vac. leak, I think it just broke in a little. I still need to do a 3500 rpm timing set.

thank's Trekkor, you may be right, the tires are old, I do have some play in the front end. I am no sure what it is, the wheel bearings are tight but I can take the wheel and move them side to side a bit. I am going to jack it up this w/e and take a look see.....
