Is the 914 just a big hollow can? Are there any types of baffles around the fuel pickup (or drop out, as the case may be)

Thanks,
Eric

The only baffle is a small ring around the fuel pickup point. If you want to look, pull the filler neck on the tank. then you can look inside with a FLASHLIGHT.

Just don't use a lit match. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

there's a round cylinder thing that houses the in-tank fuel filter, which acts as a baffle of sorts....

So I should be able to feel it with a chopstick? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) The whole torch thing has me a bit worried...

There is a ring around the stock fuel pickups and another baffle in the middle of the tank. I just cut some holes in one to add a high pressure fuel pump for my LS1 conversion.

Bigkat,

That's the reason that I was asking, not an LS1 but a MAF injection system. How'd that work out for you? The intank pump that I'm considering will mount on a 5" ring. Did you try to get the new pump pickup into the original baffle area?

I used a stock Firebird fuel pump from the car my LS1 engine came out of. I had to extend the pickup for this pump 2" to get the pickup at the bottom of the tank. The GM pump has a internal fuel pressure regulator and a round baffle for the pump With this I had to remove the stock round baffle in the 914 tank.
This was no easy job.

There is one internal baffle that goes top to bottom about 1/2 way along the length of the fuel tank. If I was really ambitious, I would crawl into the scrap bin where I threw the one I cut in half and take a picture of it.

Maybe tomorrow and maybe not!

The answer is YES, the number shall be one baffle, not two, nor three, the number shall be one.
