Can you believe this. My car is finally ready and the main road between my house and Willow Springs is closed due to snow!!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)

An alternate route is to take Hwy 138 from I-5 to Hwy 14.

Has anyone ever gone this way?

Does it stay below 1500 feet in elevation?

The only other option is to take 5 down to 14 and across.

I live up here (Palmdale) and have been that route many times. 138 comes out at I-5 at the top of the grapevine. It's all downhill from there (actually kinda flat) but regardless I would expect snow in that area as well. If not now, later for the return trip.

Well, I'm gonna give it a shot. Got a mix of rain and snow coming down on the grapevine right now. I'm pretty sure I can get there.

As far as the return trip (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) who knows.

Rain, snow, high winds, not good.

I know you don't want to hear this, but what about waiting till next week.

I've gotten to the point where if I don't have too, I don't drive when it's raining, just toooooo many damn fools out there.

Just watched the news, over 300 accidents since 5am here in SanDiego, probably the same everywhere.

Good Luck with what ever you decide, pm sent.

I was out yesterday in the early afternoon and it starting hailing like a MoFo. Be careful Allan, if it gets wet even in Seattle, people start wrecking cars all over the place.

Hope the trip goes well for you. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif)

I can't believe that it's not already getting nasty on that road based upon the clouds looking that direction.

how about the 85 to the 14? is that how you normally go Willow Springs? I heard on the news this morning that they had to close the grapevine because of all the snow. Schools in Gorman were closed because there was 2" of snow on the ground.

Isn't 138 that 2 lane hwy where the a holes in the oversized motorhomes never use the turnouts and do 15 mph for the whole trip and wont let anybody pass and you cant really anyway because most of the hwy is solid double yellow with really blind areas and there ends up being about a 20 mile line of extremely pissed off drivers behind them because they have had to go this slow for miles and miles and miles on this unkept cuckhole-invaided road with no where to stop for a beverage or to go pee so by the time you end up getting to the main freeway everyone is so friggin pissed they end up in road rage trying to flip off the couple in the motorhome or try running them off the road or try pulling in front of them and slamming on their brakes that there ends up being a big pileup or extreme congestion at the onramp and still nobody gets anywhere?

that was a long breath....i'm impressed. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) I think you're thinking about the 138 between the 14 and the 15. The part of the 138 that he would be traveling on is from the 5 (just south or Gorman) onto the 14 (north of Lancaster).

Talked to the Rage. He's got the car and is on the way home. Good news, Allan, Flying J in Gorman has internet access so you can still post if you make it that far (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif)
