Hi I have been offered a 2L 914 engine. Could you look at the pictures and tell me if it is what it says.

Thanks for any help.

Worning it is in a bad state, at the moment it is in an old VW pickup van that has been standing 7 years.

it might be a 2.0, but chances of it being a true 914 2.0 is slim...ask if the manifold to head studs are 3 (914 2.0) or 4 (bus 2.0 or 1.7/1.8)

some buses came with aircooled engines....lower compression and smaller valves

I believe the engine in the pics is a BUS case. Check the oil filler location.

Therefore, I am guessing that it is really a bus engine and not a 914 engine. It is not D-Jet for what that is worth.....
