Just curious I haven't seen any turbo porsche motors on here. Is it a heat issue or just not one bothers.

"You Can't Turbo a 914!"

Ok, I got to say it first..... (Old running joke).

There are a number of turbo 914s out there. Just use the search.

No kits but there are plenty of fabricators out there. "I" have a turbo Type I.....dual 48mm throttle bodies and a Schwitzer turbo. EFI from CB Performance....in a bathtub speedster.

If you get Excellence magazine there was a nicely done one with a 1.7 and CIS, contact them for a back issue or maybe Evil Ed will chime in.....then there have been a few carbed blow thru models.

Just trying to figure out in my head the best way to do this.

Seems it would be best to mount the turbo towards the back where the muffler would normaly be. Less heat up near the engine I would imagine. Then running it to an intercooler but not sure where you would mount that??? Maiking a manifold to 6 indivudual throttle bodies might take some work.

Just thinking about it. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

well yeah in my case the car i'm getting (dam wish the paper work was done) has a 2.7 motor. I bet the compression is really high though so that would have to be sorted out first.

But yeah either or. 4 6 all the same to me. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/welder.gif)

Go here http://community.webshots.com/user/evill914 and click on the Excellence album to see my old 914. Maximise or download the pages so you can read them.

As for the manifold, with a turbo, a single throttle plenum is all you need. Indiviual throttles will give you no real benefit. Same with the header, no benefit with equal length tubes like a n/a engine.

like mentioned above, there are few turbo 914s here...most are /4's and the only /6 I can think of it Iamchappy's 3.0 CIS turbo install...

if you do a search for "turbo" you'll find plenty of threads with pictures and info...

as for the individual throttle bodies with a pressurized plenum=
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-2-1103581180.jpg)....not really sure why for a turbo motor you'd want to do it...I can see the benifits from a normally asperated engine but I see no reason for a turbo motor since you have the turbo to shove the air into the cylinders....

well, expect to take the ITB's apart and properly seal them.....going to be a PITA.....with only one TB, it'll be easier to locate leaks......

well I guess selling the throttle bodies might cover some of the cost. If that was the case then I would get rid of them. But it is a porsche got to have some sort of coolness to it.

Mike M, Mugs914, hope I got that right, is building a 400 hp turbo with G50 right now. I forgot what the thread is on here, but he posted a lot of pics 1-2 months ago.

Later, Don
