Hi All,
Today I stopped to look at a very rusty 356 hulk about 100 ft off a busy road. Knocked on every door in the area & no one answered. Kind of looked abandoned & wonder why anyone would let it rust away???

This one is located west of Ann Arbor, MI & if anyone wants the location PM me. I am not interested, but someone may want to chase down the owner.

Tom
BTW
Good excuse to try out my new camera (Nikon D-50).

Hmmm... Look for owner, tow it? I would ask Brad what he would do? He may have some expirience in the area of this exact situation... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

It appears to be a 62 or 63 Super. The head rests & speaker grilles are worth $300 - 500 if in usable condition. The side "spear" trim is a option, not on most cars. If you can buy it for under $1000, there is money to made on E Bay.

I was just going to add, it looks like the outline of an "S" badge below the rear lid. The motor is worth a few bucks too.

If the price was right, I would be interested in picking it up. I've been keeping my eyes open for a 356 project I can afford.

That's uhhhh, quite a project.....When I was in college I came across a 356 for free that was in similar condition. I decided to pass....too much for me then.

Guys,

I know the car and it is not for sale. I know, I know--"everything is for sale". But the owner is an Ann Arbor attorney who does not need the money, owns a nice Speedster, and doesn't care what anyone offers. It has been there for years and will be for many more.

Too bad it's gotten to this condition but that is the sad truth.

Onward and upward. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

We have one (that wasn't as bad as that one appears to be) off at the rust guy's place right now. It's at $12 K right now, and climbing. Then it comes back for mechanical work. The engine was toast, and the tranny may be as well. Then the brakes, all the rubber, the body and paint work, the interior, plating, and glass. Gonna be a $45+K 59 coupe ......................
