got my 74 2.0 back it, has 44 webers and supposedly rebuilt to 2.2 (years ago). ive noticed a occasional backfire when idling and running. havent driven much because of broken tail ear. but i was wondering about the back fire i heard tonight . its like a pop pop any ideas ? ps i still havent had success with posting my picts. and yes ive read the faq on it ....oh well (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)

If it's on deceleration odds are it's an exhaust leak - possibly running rich too... If it's sitting at idle and popping you are lean - check for clogged idle jets, incorrectly adjust idle screws/too small idle jets, and carb sync.

first those jets get a little restricted, then the burn isn't right, then the plugs foul. A-yup. Probably not in sync quite right, etc.
try resizing your pics. I'll bet they are too large.... |
