Finally mounted the new (to me) autocross tires on the
Boxster 16x7's. Pics attached.

The Kumho Ecsta V700 in 205/45/16 fits easily.

Unfortunately, I doubt any other 'fast' tire will, since almost nobody makes
anything in that size. The new Hoosiers section width of the 205/16 is
10.1"!. Not going to fly without some mod to the fenders.

It looks a bit ugly, like too much area around the tire is showing. Other
people's cars with these looked better with street tires.

Anyhoo, I didn't get these for looks. It was all about getting better
wheels on a budget, and having tires that won't wear out driving to
the events 100 miles a day.

If I ever get spendy, it will be back to good offset 15" race wheels to
save more weight.

Good room on the outside, maybe only 3/8" on the inside. Oh yeah,
2' camber.

No spacers?

No spacer in back. I've always had 1/4" spacers on front, probably would
work and look better with more.

2' => 2 degrees. Bad thoughts and bad typing. That would mean 2 minutes.

Oh yeah, they are ALL 4 16x7. 6" would be pointless since the offset
is wrong and you can get cheap wheels all day in 15x6 with the right offset.

Talking DOT race tires, very unlikely. I'm sure there's street tires that
are not significantly wider than these, but are called '225's.

I made up a chart of the usual suspects. Don't want to format it for here
and bore you. My tire as you see in the pic has a section width of 8.1".
The smallest competition 225 is Pilot Sport Cup 225/50/16, section width
9.0". Not going to work on my car anyway.

The only other possibility is 215/40/16 Ecsta V710 at section width 8.6".
I don't want to buy those because I drive so far to get to the events,
though.

What did the rims cost and how much do they weigh, if I might ask?

I got them for $410 shipped, but then a UPS damage (long story) got me
$150 back. I'm on the east coast so I'm sure some of you warm climate
people can do better.

They seem to weigh in at 19 pounds.

Mark,

Those look good. It'll be interesting to see how much better those are than your 15x6's. Looking forward to seeing you this spring.

Thanks Kelly, hope to go up against you other than at Zone 1.

Unfortunately first event is during Hershey swap (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) I'm going to
be waiting a while to try them out.

6x16's with skinny little 195/55's. No spacers, no problem, stock fenders.
